Top News Finance & economics According to the preliminary results, GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd., the world's leading polysilicon and wafer producer from China, produced 8,653 MT of polysilicon in the first quarter 2013, down 29.2% from the same period in 2012, when the produtction reached 12,235 MT. Polysilicon sales for the quarter amount to 3,702 MT, down 21.7% year-on-year. The average selling price of polysilicon for the period was $16.62 per kg, with a significant drop from $25.98 per kg from the first quarter of 2012. As for the wafer segment, GCL-Poly produced in the quarter 1,231 MW (+5.8% year-on-year) and generated sales in amount of 1,482 MW (+20.1% year-on-year). Algerian electronics manufacturer Condor Electronics plans to open a 50 MW photovoltaic module production facility in Bordj Bou Arreridj, Algeria, according to the local newspaper Maghreb Emergent.
