Germany registers 226 MW of new PV capacity in October
Germany registered approximately 10,000 new PV systems with a combined capacity of 225.9 MW in October 2013, according to new figures from the German Federal Network Agency. This is down from 290.8 MW in September and 292 MW in August. Of these new PV systems, only 25 have a capacity between 1 and 10 MW, while 204 systems have a capacity between 100 kW and 1 MW. In the first 10 months of this year, Germany added 2.92 GW of PV power, substantially less that it did in the same period last year, when it added 6.83 GW. If the monthly average growth rate remains the same over the next 2 months, Germany could reach a newly installed PV capacity of 3.5 GW this year. The German government targeted between 2.5 and 3.5 GW of new PV capacity in 2013. According to the German Federal Network Agency, Germany’s cumulative installed PV capacity topped 35.2 GW at the end of October.
