Protesters march against the revision of the German Renewable Energy Law which includes enormous cut of the feed-in-tariff (FIT). The protest takes place in from of the Office of the German Federal Chancellor during a meeting of Germany's federal cabinet on Feb. 29, 2012. The environmental organizations BUND and Campact have called for the protest. Actors with masks of German Federal Minister for the Environment Norbert Röttgen and German Federal Minister of Economy Philipp Rösler smash a PV system to pieces with hammers. An actor with mask of German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel tries to stop them, but fails. The protesters carry signs which read "Prevent nuclear power comeback (AKW-Comeback verhindern)" and "Stop solar clearcutting (Solar-Kahlschlag stoppen)". The electronics lab of PHOTON Laboratory GmbH based in Aachen, Germany, has available a test rig for inverter tests. A photovoltaic array, which feeds the inverter, is simulated by a DC power supply and a linear readjustment. On 480 operating points over nominal power and input voltage conversion efficiency and MPPT adjustment efficiency is measured. The housing cover is taken off a Sunny Boy SB 10000TLUS-10 inverter by SMA Solar Technology AG (front). A PV system with 55.5 kW rating is installed on the roof of the vocational school "Berufliche Schulen am Gradierwerk" in Bad Nauheim, Germany. 292 "SST 190-72M" solar modules by CEEG (Shanghai) Solar Science & Technology are fixed to the roof with mounting tubs. The system was commissioned in December 2010. Owner of the system is RIG - Solar GmbH, which has rented the roof from the Wetterau district. RIG has detected defects, so called snail trails, on some of the modules in mid-2011. The defective parts look as if a snail left her track on the module. On these parts the solar cell's contact fingers changed the color to brown, as if they are scorched. Innovalight Inc. based in Sunnyvale, California, United States of America (USA), has developed the so called Cougar Platform with a Silicon Ink as centerpiece. In a conventional solar cell production line a new process step is added between texturizing and diffusion. A pattern looking like contact fingers and bus bars is printed onto the wafer surface where later the contacts will be applied. The pattern is printed with a screen printer using Innovalight's Silicon Ink. Thus the wafer is selectively doped at the surface during diffusion process. A laboratory worker shows a screen printer fabric. Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, Nevada, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika (USA): The cultural institution has installed PV system with 154 kW rating above of this parking lot. 830 HIP-186DA1 solar modules by Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. are mounted to Powertracker tracking systems by Powerlight, in January 2007 acquired by Sunpower Corp. A fabric is tensioned beneath the supporting construction to provide additional shade for the cars as well as to reflect sunlight back to the bifacial modules, which capture the light from the backside. The system was completed in March 2007.
