Brightsource Energy Inc. has installed a solar power tower plant in Coalinga, California, United States of America (USA). The 34 MW thermal solar-to-steam power plant uses Brightsource's proprietary Luz Power Tower Technology (LPT). 3,822 heliostats with two 10x7-foot mirrors each (i.e. 7,644 mirrors) focus the sunlight to a receiver unit atop of a 327 feet tall receiver tower. The system has been commissioned on Oct. 3, 2011. The plant has been built for Chevron Technology Ventures to produce steam for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) at Chevron’s Coalinga oil field.

The Energy and Technology Park Eggebek is being developed on the former military airbase near Eggebek, Germany, where the Naval Aviation Wing 2 of the German Navy has been stationed until 2005.
Here the installer company Möhring Energie GmbH builds a solar power plant on an area of 160 ha, which will have a rating of approximately 83.6 MW after completion in August 2011. At this time it will be Germany's largest solar power plant.
Roughly 360,000 solar modules of the TSM-PC05 series by Trina Solar Energy Co. Ltd. with 230 W, 235 W and 240 W rating are mounted on a MSP-AL Solar Park mounting system by Hilti Corporation with pile driven foundation. Roundabout 5200 string inverters by Danfoss Solar Inverters A/S will be used. The power plant will feed electricity into the utility of Eon Netz AG.
Red auxiliary marks are set at the end of each row before building the racks.

Halm Elektronik GmbH based in in Frankfurt-on-Main, Germany, develops the simulator CetisPV-XF2 with xenon flash for power measurements of single solar cells. According to Halm the simulator is of Class A talking about spectral match, uniformity and temporal stability. For IV curve measurement a CetisPV-CT-L1 device is used. For a test the cell is put into a CetisPV-Contact-1 contacting system.
The solar cell is contacted with small contact pins, which touch the bus bars.

Innovalight Inc. based in Sunnyvale, California, United States of America (USA), has developed the so called Cougar Platform with a Silicon Ink as centerpiece. In a conventional solar cell production line a new process step is added between texturizing and diffusion. A pattern looking like contact fingers and bus bars is printed onto the wafer surface where later the contacts will be applied. The pattern is printed with a screen printer using Innovalight's Silicon Ink. Thus the wafer is selectively doped at the surface during diffusion process.
An employee shows a wafer with a pattern of contact fingers and bus bars printed with Silicon Ink.

Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, Nevada, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika (USA):
The cultural institution has installed PV system with 154 kW rating above of this parking lot. 830 HIP-186DA1 solar modules by Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. are mounted to Powertracker tracking systems by Powerlight, in January 2007 acquired by Sunpower Corp. A fabric is tensioned beneath the supporting construction to provide additional shade for the cars as well as to reflect sunlight back to the bifacial modules, which capture the light from the backside. The system was completed in March 2007.
