DETERMINING THE TEMPERATURE COEFFICIENT

 

The tempreature coefficienct tells us how the module’s behavior wil change at different cell temperatures.

 

The measurement process

To determine a solar module’s temperature coefficient, a solar simulator is used to capture a current-voltage characteristic curve at 1,000 W/m² and an AM of 1.5. The solar module’s temperature is then increased in predetermined steps. By capturing the current-voltage characteristic curve at difference temperature points, we obtain module values like Pmpp, Impp, Vmpp, Uoc and Isc. Since current, voltage, and power vary at different temperatures, the temperature coefficiency for current, voltage, and power can be determined for a tested module.
